EPA plans to cancel Movento registration

Published: January, 28 2010

The Environmental Protection Agency has announced it plans to cancel the registration of Movento insecticide from Bayer CropScience on Feb. 16.

If the EPA prevails, you will no longer be able to purchase the insecticide after that date. In all likelihood, you will still be able to use existing stocks after that date.

In a lawsuit, the court ruled that EPA failed to allow comments during one part of the registration process. As a result, the court overturned EPA's registration of spirotetramat, the active ingredient in Movento and Ultor.

Bayer has appealed the court’s ruling.

The EPA is accepting comments through Feb. 8 on how to treat existing stocks.
